Call for synopses - BMRA Annual Conference - deadline 17 June

The British Market Research Association invites submissions for Research Directions 2005 to be held at the Brighton Thistle on November 14th and 15th 2005.

This year's theme, provisionally titled 'A fork in the road?' reflects the changing landscape of our industry, with an increasing divide opening between large and small agencies, and fuelled by the growth in international research, which the BMRA statistics show to be the fastest growing segment. The conference will also address trends in client-side demands and the challenges these pose for UK-based research agencies. Taking a forward-looking approach, the conference will aim to set the agenda for the next 5 years.

Likely themes for submissions might include: the impact of globalisation on clients' research needs, global brands and cross-border research, emerging markets, outsourcing / off-shoring, new business skills and tools, the future of Internet-based research, mobilising new theoretical approaches, and the effect of all these on British MR agencies and clients. Papers on other themes will also be considered.

Format

Potential speakers should provide a synopsis of 100-400 words, with a working title and an outline of both argument and presentation format (e.g. case study / technical paper). A brief biographical note for speaker(s) should be included. Submissions will be reviewed by the conference committee and evaluated on the basis of subject matter, overall argument, originality and relevance to British market research. Speakers are encouraged to focus on solutions as well as problems. Joint presentations demonstrating successful client-agency collaboration are welcomed.

How to Submit

Please email synopses to both jacky.ward@bmra.org.uk (BMRA Secretariat) AND nick.coates@freshminds.co.uk (Conference Committee Chairman) by 17th June 2005. Submissions received after this date may not be able to be reviewed. Any enquiries should be directed to Jacky Ward, at the BMRA Secretariat on 020 7566 3636.

If possible, an email before the 10th June indicating intention to submit a synopsis would also be appreciated.

The conference committee will aim to let speakers know by mid-July whether their paper has been accepted.
