GSR Conference 2005

Michael Feuer

The conference, which is the major developmental event of the year for Government Social Researchers, 'Professional Skills for Government: Competencies to deliver high quality social science research', took place in London from the 3-5 October at the Tower Thistle Hotel.

The aim of this year's conference was to discuss and examine the importance of high quality social science research in government. It also considered the role and outcomes of the Professional Skills for Government programme in helping deliver high quality social research. Plenary speakers were:

Anna Coote (Healthcare Commission)
Michael Feuer (National Academy of Sciences, Washington DC)
Marshal Smith (Program Director for the Education Program, The William and Flora Hewlett Foundation, USA)
