Call for applications for travel grants to conduct research in New Zealand - deadline 31 January 2006

The NZ-UK Link Foundation, in association with the UK Academy of Social Sciences, invites applications for travel grants to conduct research in New Zealand.

This £10,000 scheme is intended to support comparative social and policy research that strengthens the relationship between the two countries. The scholarship will fund travel and living expenses for visits to New Zealand of between one and three months. Applicants are expected to be British nationals, living and working in the UK.

Depending on the standard of the applications, the £10,000 may be awarded entirely to one applicant or divided between several.

Applications should be supported by:

• a CV of the applicant (no more than two sides of A4)
• a letter of invitation from a New Zealand university, Ministry or Research Institute indicating the intended dates of travel
• a brief description of the proposed research including the expected outputs and showing how the research supports the aims listed above. (one side of A4)
• a rough budget to show how much is being asked for, how the award is to be used and any other financial contributions from other sources.
• the names and e mail addresses of two referees.
• Fellows will be expected to:
  speak about their work at the Royal Society of New Zealand and to institutions in New Zealand other than their hosts.
• report back on their time in New Zealand to the Link Foundation with an executive summary within two months of their return and indicate how a full description of their research may be accessed.
• acknowledge the support of the Link Foundation in any publication.

All candidates will be informed by post or e-mail of decisions on rejection or short listing. Short listed candidates will be invited for interview in London.
