We are interested in your skills as a social researcher, your determination to develop your career and your potential to reach the highest levels in the civil service.
We are looking to develop the GSR leaders of tomorrow - Heads of Profession, Chief Research Officers, Heads of Analytical services. But you may also decide to broaden your career path and compete for senior roles in operational delivery or corporate services within the civil service.
There is no Fast Stream ‘type’. The Fast Stream is designed to help you develop your skills and aptitudes, whatever your background. The GSR Fast Stream In-Service should reflect the diversity of the GSR workforce and of the population. There are particular competences/attributes that we will be looking for, whatever your background. These are described on the Fast Stream website.
The experience you gain whilst on the Fast Stream programme will prepare you to compete for promotion to Principal Research Officer (or equivalent) earlier than you might otherwise have done - usually within 4 years. Ultimately, you should be equipped to join the Senior Civil Service. You will complete a series of challenging posts with a formal training and development programme lasting up to 5 years.
The application and assessment process is tough but irrespective of whether you are successful you will receive comprehensive feedback on your performance that will be valuable to your career development.
There are very few entry requirements. You'll need to fulfil the following criteria:
