Government Social Research Knowledge Reviews have been established to explore key areas of importance to social researchers in government. The overarching aim of the reviews is to improve how government social researchers conceptualise and measure fundamental concepts in order to enhance the use of social research in informing and evaluating policy, and measuring longer-term trends. Each review is led by a cross-government GSR Advisory Group.
The first Knowledge Review explores the area of Behaviour Change. The initial phase of the review provides an overview of the theory behind behaviour change and considers issues to address when using models in the development of behaviour change interventions.

The GSR Advisory Group is now considering taking forward additional work in this area - particularly looking at the empirical evidence base for behaviour change interventions and examining how models have been applied in the UK public sector context.
